Few books change how a room full of data scientists sees the world quite like this one. Join Boston Women in Bioinformatics for a virtual discussion of Invisible Women: Data Bias in a World Designed for Men by Caroline Criado Perez — a look at how gender data gaps shape everything from medicine to city planning to the tools we build every day.

We’re reading it now because a lot of the premises behind this year’s Fall Fundraiser trace directly back to the arguments in this book. Coming to the discussion first will give you the background for those conversations.

  • “Readers” are welcome even if you haven’t finished the book yet — some of the facts in here are emotionally taxing and take time to digest.
