Career pauses aren’t career endings.
Layoffs. Maternity leave. Burnout. Caregiving. The reasons women step away from the bench (or the terminal) are many and the path back isn’t always mapped out.
That’s why Boston Women in Bioinformatics is hosting our Return to Work Panel with three women who’ve done it !
Meet our panelists:
Laurel Wright, PhD is a Senior Data Scientist at Enveda with over a decade in TechBio. Five years ago, a layoff during maternity leave put her career on an unexpected pause, and she’ll share how she rebuilt her momentum.
Prisni Rath is a Staff Product Marketing Manager at Illumina with 12+ years in bioinformatics and research across five countries. She paused her career after becoming a mother and came back on a different path, moving from bioinformatics into product strategy and marketing.
Katie Hughes is a Product Owner at Sanofi, bringing AI and digital tools into scientists’ workflows. After a layoff and several months of job searching, she found that leaning on her network and reconnecting with her hobbies helped her figure out what she actually wanted next.
What You’ll Get
Panelists will share how they approached their return to work, the challenges they faced along the way, and the advice they’d give to others navigating a similar journey.
Who Should Attend
Anyone in the bioinformatics community interested in hearing stories about career transitions after time away, especially those considering or currently going through a career break themselves.
